The Oil

The Robert Oatley Picual is a fruity, mild-medium style oil. It has a lifted and distinctive aroma of tomato which persists to the palate, followed by mild grapefruit bitterness and a soft chilli pungency. A beautiful oil.

The Olives

The olives are large, weighing 2.2g at harvest. The fruit size makes it an easy variety to harvest, but oil extraction can be difficult. Again, however, the outstanding quality of the oil make it worth the effort.

The Tree

Picual is a hardy variety but requires excellent drainage. The foliage is a soft grey and looks particularly handsome when in fruit.

The Region

This is a Spanish variety, and widely grown, easily being the most important variety of that country.
